Does anyone here have a pet tarantula? I've always been scared of spiders, but for some reason, I always thought tarantulas were cool. But I never jumped at getting one as a pet. Mainly because I am scared of spiders, and I don't know how I'd react holding one in my hands.

How are they as pets? Do they get used to you eventually?

Tarantulas are one of my next goals to have as a pet :D

I actually wouldn't recommend holding them. They are quite fragile and will get stressed out. You can hold some of them. It's just not recommended. Females can live up to 25years whereas males only like 7 or so. You need to do research on the specific T you'll be getting. And when asking questions or if joining a tarantula forum and such, you'll need to use the scientific name for the specific species/kind you got.

I would say a 10gallon is perfect for most adults. If you want more info I highly suggest looking into a few people on youtube and their websites.

I'm currently looking into getting a Aphonopelma chalcodes or Arizona Blonde Tarantula. Though I definitely need to do more research before getting one haha.
