Seahorse as a pet?

Can you have a seahorse as a pet? I wouldn't mind having a couple of them in a tank with some other tropical fish. How are they with other fish in general? I might go with 3 of them. What would it cost for one seahorse?

Yes, you can, but in most cases, they are very hard to care for. You need a very large tank and perfect water conditions.

I have seen them as cheap as $30 and as expensive as $500.

if your just starting out (it sounds like it from your post but i'm not sure) then i'd definately get the fish first and worry about difficult things like seahorses later!!

I think you can only keep seahorses in their own saltwater tank because they can be hurt by other fish. They are also expensive and hard to keep alive. The average is about $100 for 10 dwarf horses. But if you really want to keep seahorses, you can buy those that have been raised in captivity.
